Vacuume line issue as well?

Been reading about a/c issues, and for the most part, i realize that usually it's a vaccume line that's either broken or disconnected. However, my a/c issue is kinda weird. If I have the fresh air vent open, my a/c blows thru the vents like one would expect it to. But when I have the a/c set to recirculate, it blows thru ALL vents, including the defrost vents. And if I drive over 30 mph< it only blows thru the defrost vent. Again this only happens when in the recirculate setting. Gotta fix this because I'm not really interested in having to replace my compressor anytime soon. Now I know to start looking for the vacuume line under the battery, but where else should I start to look incase that isn't an issue? BTW, i've got a '98 2.5, auto.

If it happens on one setting I would say its the switch or the vac line for that particular setting which is under the dash. If you had a leak under the hood it would affect all settings.
