Vanco Big Brake Availability

Has anybody hear why the Vanco 16" big brake kits are out of stock everywhere? I haven't had a chance to call yet but the Vanco website and Savvy have both shown out of stock for a few weeks now. I'm getting ready to re-gear and install by 35's. If I stick with the factory brakes for now, how bad will it be braking?

try Black Magic Brakes. They're a vendor for Vanco too.

I just saw an ad for the new 15"/16" with the knuckle that accepts RCV axles, in stock!

Edit: found it. Never bought anything from them so I have no opinion or experience with the company, but here's what I was looking at:

Try it....
I bought my Jeep used so not sure what brakes are on it but I am guessing they are nothing spectacular in brand name since the Jeep was almost stock.

My brakes work good. I can and have locked up the tires on demand so no issues with my brakes working. With that being said, once the brakes need replaced I will go with a set of Centric Rotors and Black Magic pads just to know I am putting on some quality parts.

I would try it (obviously carefully and safely).

I expect new Vanco Big Brake kits to be available before too much longer. Stay tuned.

FWIW, my LJ was the complete opposite. My brakes stock were downright dangerous. I upgraded to EBC Yellows, and they were mediocre at best. Bone stock with 30s I couldn't lock up the front tires, and every time I had to emergency stop, I would bury the pedal and pray the Jeep would actually come to a halt soon enough. One time it didn't...on a slight downhill, I slid right into the back of a Subaru...got below 10mph from 50mph but even with a 5 second spacing I still didn't stop in time.

The Vanco kit was one of the best mods I've done to my Jeep. The Jeep finally stops like it should have from the factory. I can lock up my 33s, and have in fact cut grooves in the tread from pavement cheese-graters. But locking up the tires isn't what good braking is about. You want to keep your tires in traction and still maintain good braking characteristics. With the Vancos, I can repeatedly jam my passenger's face into the windshield...in the hills, in traffic, on the highway or towing a trailer...without breaking traction.

You really do have to drive a Jeep with Vancos installed to appreciate the amazing difference.

Something more than the RCV capable flip tie rod taper knuckle like I linked above? Those were the ones I've been waiting for, and you're saying he's got something better in the works?

There are several options you have with the new Dual Mode kit! If you want the driver side tapered for flipped steering, it can be done!
