Vent selector not working

My air vents have had a delay in changing for quite some time now. I would move the dial and about 30 seconds later the vent would switch. Now my vents are stuck in defrost and I can't adjust them. My feet froze last winter. Any advice? Thanks

You have a vacuum leak. Do a search on for vacuum, vent, hvac, defrost etc. There are lots of posts with diagrams and where to start.

One short term measure is to turn the fan to min when you change, that way the poor vacuum you have does not have to overcome the full force of the air flow

Get your head under the steering column and have a look see if the vacuum actuators are working when you shift the selectors. If not, then it's a vacuum problem, if they move and nothing changes, then it's your blend door lever.
My vacuum was poor, but when I looked closer my blend door levers were full of dust and crap, and after a quick clean and test the vacuum seemed adequate enough to shift them in reasonable time.
Although I think I just popped my face vent one again..... Apparently even a 1" decking screw and gorilla glue isn't strong enough to fix it

Blend door does not control where the air comes out of. The blend door controls the air flow across the heater core for temperature control.

Check the 3 actuators and associated linkage for function: (under dash by vent controls)

That's what I bought the replacement as off ebay.... (looking through my service manual.....)

^^Those piddly weak as piss levers on the end of the actuators that shift the air through the various vents......
