Water in bulb

Hi, I'm having fun driving my "new" jeep. I have a question about the, what I would call, running light on the front right side of my 2000 Sahara. It wouldn't come on and the rear right turn signal blinked really fast. So I took the bulb out (learned real fast to go from the back, not the front) and the bulb had water in it. Got a new bulb and put it in but still doesn't light up. I notice the bulb pushes into a little hickey doo that then attaches to the harness. Don't cha think the hickey doo the bulb pushes into might need replacing? It looks hard to get off though. Thanks for any info and how in the heck did water get in the bulb? --Donna, new jeep person

There is water in the actual bulb or just the housing? lol

The bulb itself. And I guess you're saying the hickey doo is really called a housing! Now at least when I go to the counter at the auto parts store I can call it what it really is... Should I replace this housing?

Hey Donna I haven't got to say welcome yet so anyway Welcome to the forum. Now I assume you are talking about the rectangular turn signal light on the fender and not the sort of triangle shaped marker light on the fender flare correct and if so I am not sure why or how you would have got water in the bulb itself but I would say if it has water in it and replacing the bulb did not fix it then the pigtail that the bulb goes in is bad.Trip is talking about the housing or the plastic lens and caseing part of the light that would not be bad unless it is cracked or the seal is broken allowing the water to get in then that housing would need to be replaced yes but I would start with the pigtail since the bulb does not fit into it right and also it seals the water from the tires from entering the housing.

Hi, thanks! I can see where that thing would be called a pigtail. And the housing is what it all goes into. Yes, the pigtail looks corroded where the bulb pokes into it. I can see that now. I'll give it a try today to fix it before the nice policeman pulls me over.

In that case I think maybe all cops should own a Jeep and ATVs if owning them makes you bias.......

My 02 does the same... my passenger side front turn signal gets water in it all the time... I sealed the housing thinking it would fix it... it didn't... I just replace the bulb every couple of months and drain out the housing cause its full of water... not sure how it gets in there but it does...

As I said above, I normally just replace the bulb and drain the water out...

That won't work anymore...

I found a replacement housing (Yellow lense with bolts) but I am can't seem to find a replacement bulb harness and connecting wire.

Does anyone know where I can find these parts? Parts store don't carry the right ones and I really don't want to go to the dealer and be raped...
