Water in Passenger Side Floorboard?!?!

I was starting to hook up my back up foglights when I pulled up the carpet on the passenger side it was soaked!! It hasn't had the top off for probably a month, and we haven't had any rain to speak of in about that long. I haven't washed it for ever and I have never noticed this since december when I bought it. I have a heavy rubber floormat that is over the stock floormats so I didn't notice it until I removed the heavy mat. It smells like water and doesn't have a mildew smell which makes me think it hasn't been there too awful long. I couldn't trace where it was coming from as only the bottom of the floorpan was wet, there wasn't any water on any of the sides where it would have ran down. Any suggestions what to check would be greatly appreciated!!!

It's the A/C

I had the same prob. If you look under the hood at the fire wall in the passenger side you see this black, kind of round thing with a tube coming out of it. (Sorry, I am not very technical) This acts as some sort of drain for your A/C unit. What happens though is that gunk gets clogged up into it and the water has no where to go so it leaks into your interior where it collects in your floor board. At first my mechanic just took an air hose and tried to blow out the little tube where the water is supposed to drain. He said 90% of the time this will fix it, but it didn't mine so he had to go in and manually clean it out. So, basically try taking an air hose to the drain and if that does not work go to your mechanic. All in all it is not a very expensive fix. Hope this helps

I had the same issue on mine so bought a $5 90 degree elbow for a PVC valve from AutoZone which did the trick. Haven't had a leak since!

It's either:
1)the a/c drain hose. (I added a section of clear hose to the drain per Stu Olsens write up) http://www.stu-offroad.com/body/ac/acleak-1.htm

or
2) The cowl vent drain is plugged. you'll have to remove the wipers, and the cowl panel and clean the drain(which drains into the center firewall) with compressed air or use a wire hanger and a water hose like I did.

I have had the same issue on the passenger side with a major flood when it rains but only when I am driving. If the Jeep is parked it remains dry. I finally took the seat and carpet out on the passenger side and had my wife sit in the back seat as we went for a drive. My bare floor was as dry as could be. I drove for 10 minutes in a downpoor and... no water. I hit the brakes to turn around and a flood came out of the right side down at the floor where there is an intentional separation in the outer and inner walls. I don't know what it is called but if you look you will see it on both sides. It is just in front of where the roll bar meets the floor. I took the fender wells out and looked everywhere on that side but cannot find anywhere that water could possibly come in. It has to be coming in from the back bumper area and up over the fender on the inside. There it is trapped until I hit the brakes and then it runs all the way to the front floor pan with about 1/2 inch of water.

I have a 2010 wrangler with the same problem. I removed the thin passenger side matt, and did not see any more condensation. I too had the factory matt with the weatherguard matt on top. The carpet was wet. I feel that its condensastion in sync with the hot floor causing the moisture. I am having the factory look into it.

I have the same problem as you, PhotoPhil. Water comes in when I'm moving. Mine seems to come in somewhere by the right side vent; I opened the glovebox and could see a drip trail down some of the vent tubing, but can't quite figure out where it is coming from. My cowl isn't clogged and neither is my AC drain, so it may be somewhere in the windshield frame seal or door, not sure.
