water in the trans

i just went and had my trans rebuilt had second replaced along with some other things, but when they cracked it open there was small amounts of water in it. How does the water get in what can i do to prevent this from happening.
has anybody had this problem

Have you driven through water? Automatic trannies have a breather than can suck water in. You can lengthen it to prevent it from happening. I'm sure some one here can give you the details better than me though.

97 to 02 have a low breather. I'm not sure if you can extend it EZily or not. You may have to tap and seal the current outlet and then add an extender.
Keep us updated as you go along. I'm going to start looking at this as well. Not much water crossing here in the high desert, but still a good idea.
Between the two of us and the rest of our forum we should be able to figure out an EZ way to get it done.

the trans is a manual i looked around for a vent but could not find whereit was do any of you know. I realy got to find that becsue water and mud as what i live for and going throuhg pulling the trans out was not fun i dont want to go throuhg that agen

it might have gotten down through the shifter, if the seals uf there are torn at all it will go inside through that.

i only see a tube going into the transfercase but not the trans
