Water pump question

I have a 1997 Sahara 4.0L with a 118k and the water pump needs to be replaced. Do I need to remove the radiator to get enough room/access? Or can I just remove the fan assembly?

Any pointers from anyone who’s done the job themselves would be much appreciated. I need to get it done in an afternoon so I can get to work the next day.

Thank you,
R

YOu'll have to remove the fan shroud and fan to make it the easiest.

Here's a good write-up by Stu ---> http://www.stu-offroad.com/engine/ra...radiator-4.htm
I did mine a couple months ago using this write-up, and the install went very well.

Thanks guys! That write-up is really detailed.

I'm new to this forum, I love my Jeep, I've owned it since new and I fully intend to drive it until the wheels fall off so I'm sure I'll be around.
