WATER PUMP Still leaks

So I put it all back together with new pump and thermostat housing and it started to leek as soon as I put the anitfreeze in from the same spot, at the base of the pump. Drained and took apart and the new gasket and it looked terrible. Got a new Gasket and carefully put all back together. Started leeking for the same spot again! No clue what I am missing but this is about 8 hours of work and about to give up. got any suggestion before I take it to the shop?

I just put a new water pump on. After I put it on I let the silicone dry for 16 hours before putting any fluid back in.

You definitely MUST let the silicone dry at least overnight before assembly and use a generous amount. Clean the engine and the water pump off really well before starting over again and apply LIBERALLY with a nice fat bead.

Sorry it's giving you trouble Jimbo, this sort of thing is frustrating as heck sometimes.

Even without any gasket sealer of any kind it shouldn't leak. 16 hours, 24 hours, or 10 seconds.

Obviously it's not the pump.
You'll have to look close to find it - the lower hose with a pinhole? Is it running down from higher up and just looks like it's the pump?

Use a strong light and a small mirror.

Or take it to a shop that can pressurize the cooling system to make the leak get worse, easy to find then.
It's no wonder the country is falling apart - stupidity abounds!

thanks for all of the feed back ,I took apart again the the gasket on the water pump looked like a peice of swiss cheese in an oven. Got a new "better" gasket and reinstalled everything and seems to be working. I would suggest not using a gasket sealer as that is what seem to make the gasket fall apart. Just some antifreeze to hold it on the pump when you install.
