Talking Weired sound ...

Ok ... so I went wheeling in Holister, CA. It was lot of fun and will definately go back when I am done putting my lift and 33s. Went through water pit and some blue rated trails .. nothing extreme. I didn't remove the sway bar links .. so one of them broke (ball joint came out of the housing).

On the way home I heard this metal to metal scratching sound. Sounds like if you scratch a piece of metal sheet with another rough metal surface. It only happens if I am going over 20 mph (atleast thats when I start to hear it). Coming somewhere from the front. It is not from engine since reving the engine doesn't change it a bit. Hitting the brakes doesn't change it. Pushing the clutch, putting the transmission in netural doesn't change it.

What could it be? What should I look for?

look for crap around the spring(upper and lower seat.) lots of odd noises can come from there...

Also check control arm bolts.

I had, also, weird noises after one sway bar links broke (the ball joint came out, too). It was the link rubbing against the sway bar. Try to move the link ( you should be able to lower it) and see if it still makes the noise.
