What are these?

New owner and new member. My recently purchased 2002 is pretty much 100% stock. I don't plan on creating a monster truck but, like most Jeep owners I do plan on making frequent cosmetic and functional upgrades. My extensive internet and ebay searches have turned up a few items which I can't identify. This item is one of them...listed as 'sport roll bar padding covers.

I am going to try to post a picture. Can someone tell me what these are for? On my wrangler the horizontal bar that goes just behind the fronts is bare so I was looking for a cover for it - which led me to this listing. When I squeeze the pads on my other bars there doesn't feel like anything there other than the cover itself - maybe I am missing something.

Okay, have I appropriately displayed my ignorance on the subject? TIA for any and all help and advice!

I could be wrong, (it happened once ) but i think those attach to the metal roll bar and then get covered with the outer zip on fabric. Maybe they only attach at the points where the driver/passenger are most likely to hit their heads. I don't know, I never took my covers off.

Welcome to WF!

I'm not sure either, My bars only feel like they have the zipping cover and that's it. They definitely don't have any thick pads like that. Sorry!

I could be wrong, but it looks to me like foam padding for the roll bars. Mine is completely padded (just like my room) with it, underneath the zip-on cover.

After further review, mine do have pads. If they are the same as those then what you have in the pics should be really firm/hard. Mine were also like a light yellowish color, maybe similar to an old stained paper. as for the location of those you have, I am not sure but the do go somewhere!

Those go over the metal on the roll bar then the fabric cover zippers over them.

I know I'm not wrong (not to be cocky) and yes, those are the foam pads that attach to your roll cage if you remove the zipper cover. I only know because when i got my jeep, I zippered that off and thoses were underneath.
