What Axul do i have ???

How do I tell what rear axle i have, I'm on vacation and the r/r axle shaft seal leaking. Any help and recomendations for repair, I have it all apart right now looking for a shop to replace the seal. 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 2door stock.

it should be a Dana 35. is the drain plug metal or rubber?

Didn't all of the unlimited come with a 44?

Yes you have a dana 44.. it will have a metal fill plug.

put some rtv on it and put it back together, no more leak and believe it or not it will last for a long time.

The axle seal isn't all that easily replaced, let's hope that cleaning the existing seal and axle tube opening and then applying a thin seal of Permatex Ultra Black RTV around the seal and then reseating everything does the trick. Too much RTV around the seal can encourage leaking so don't over-RTV it.

Thanks to all, as it turned out the bearing race broke from the bearing and was cutting into the axle. had a machinest replace the bearing and seal all for $65.00 parts and laber, I'm back on the road and back on vacation in Covina Ca. Thanks again Happy Thanksgiving.
