What bumpstops have I got?

Photo of front coil. 1.75" spacer at the top. Is that the bumpstop extension at the bottom, fixed to the bottom spring seat?

Good spot! The lift is just an RE Budget, but looking at their website their smaller lifts all use the same 2" bumpstops. I want to go to either 2" or 3" springs and the good news is I can use the bumpstops and monotube shocks I already have fitted by the look of it, so all I need is the springs and trackbars dealt with.

Most lifts don't use bump stop spacers I the front, only rear. To see what size bump stops you need, remove springs/shocks and jack axle up until tire is about to make contact with fender, if it dosent with stock bump stops your good. Only reason I hAve front lowers is my axle would make contact with the v8 power steering pump.

From reading on here and elsewhere I think the bumpstops are to protect the shocks from bottoming out rather than tyre clearance. The spacers are only 1.75" and the stops are 2" so it actually loses 0.25" of upwards travel.

Which suits me as I plan to install 2" springs and run 33" tyres. By my maths, I'll get the same total travel a stock Jeep has, just pushed 2" away from the body which should be enough to clear the 33" tyres?

Bumstops are the for 3 reasons depending on your suspension setup. To protect the shocks, to prevent coil bind and to prevent body damage by limiting travel.
