What gears do i have?

I have a 97 4.0 tj automatic. I'm running 3,000 Roma at 70 mph. 4 inch lift, 305-70-16's, same as 33's. I believe! I don't see a tab on my diff. I can mark the driveshaft and Jack it up and spend the tires and count the ds turns. But just wanted to see if y'all could somewhat guess. The jeep has plenty of power and accelerates perfect. I just would like my rpms down alitlle for the interstate driving. Planning on 35's soon"MAYBE" Im not trusting my Dana 35 with the 35's. Remember I'm currently running 305-70-16's/////33's. Thanks wavey!!!!!

Did you check both the front and rear differential covers for the ratio tag?

But '97 TJs with the 4.0L engine came with either 3.07 or 3.55 from the factory so with your higher than expected rpms with your 33" tires, I'm guessing it has been regeared so it's likely both tags were removed. You'd be getting lower rpms with either of the factory ratios.

With close to 3K rpms at 70 mph, I believe you probably have 4.10 gears in your axles which I would be very happy with for your 33" tire size and 3-speed automatic transmission.

Yes I do love the power and acceleration of my baby... So if I most likely have 4.10 gears, will that be a good combo on 35's if I decide to get them? I really want them badly!!! I have heard alot of people on here say the Dana 35 is ok, then I here alot of people saying don't do it..... I'm very confused... If I need to buy some chromolys sometime I will. If I put the 35's on will that maybe lower my rpms. 3000 rpms at 70 mph is kinda high to me. Could the 35's actually improve that.... Maybe I could be in a win/win situation..... Thanks Jerry, you always have great advice and answers to almost every post I start. We all look forward to your advice....

Im pretty sure the 35's should make you run higher RPM's if anything. 70mph is kinda fast anyways! Lol
