What goes in this knock out ?

While wiring my CB this weekend I pulled off the panel below the climate control dials and to the left of what would be the ashtray that would NORMALLY contain switches?!?!? Anyhow, the third knock out from the steering wheel has a wired plug in the back of it however the switch is non existant. What is this switch knock out used for???

Just curious.

If my Jeep were here I would look, but I do know the three switches are:

Rear wiper, rear defrost, and fog lights.

By memory the one furthest from the wheel is the fog lights.

This is from my 06. That is an overdrive override. It disengages the overdrive. Upside down, but you get the picture.

Fog lights. I had the same thing. I bought an OEM switch from eBay, and used it to power my Hella's. They work just like factory fog lights. On with park lights and low beams, but off with the high beams.

HMMM,that's odd.My 2003 came with factory fog lights, and the switch is on the end of the turn signal stalk.Came from the factory that way.I do know Rubicon models had a locker switch mounted in this location.Mine is left to right-rear defrost, rear wiper, overdrive on/off,then the 4th slot is blank.Couldn't possibly be for fog lights.

Mine is a 99 sport with only 3 switches. The first 2 from the left are for the wiper and defrost, I don't remember which order those are in, but the third one was for the fogs. I plugged the oem switch into the plug that was on the back of that blank, and it functioned correctly. I don't know where the wiring goes from there, so I wired the lights with all of the hella relay, and fuses as the instructions said, but I tied into the back of the oem switch to power them. Works well.

If it's your '04 you are referring to, it's more than likely (as stated by two others with slightly newer Jeeps) Overdrive Over-Ride. NOT fogs.

Yep, it's my "04" TJ with a 5 speed manual so I'm leaning toward fogs....

Aye, a 5spd non-Rubi you're looking at Fog lights.

If you're wanting to connect aftermarket lights up to that switch and you'll be putting the lights in close to the same location as the factory fog lights (for a '99) then there should be a harness plug inside each fender well about 1/2 way between the large marker lights on the front and the bumper. ...if it's wired up already. It'll be a two wire plug.

Mine didn't have the factory fog lights. I had the plug in the dash for the switch, but there was no wiring for the lights themselves. I checked my brother in law's wiring from the lights, and I didn't have it. That's why I installed mine with all of the light kit wiring. It was easier than trying to chase down the wiring harness. In the plug in the dash, I believe it was the second wire from the left that was the power out from the switch. I just tied into it and ran out to everything else.

Ahh.... with manual. Just might be fogs then.
Although, with factory fogs on newer ('04? & up) Jeeps, the foglight switch is on the turnsignal lever. On all the ones I've seen atleast.

Took a quick look and can't locate any wires up front.... Hmmm the plot thickens...
