Question What is this part called, please?

Does anyone know what this black plastic part is called around the loop on the front tubular bumper? I'm having my bumper fixed and rechromed, and I stretched one of them and I have to replace it. Thank You.

do you know who makes the bumper, and perhaps contact them? Wish we could be more helpful but most of us remove anything chrome and toss it. Would it be cheaper to just get a new chrome bumper vs the repair and re-chrome?

It is an original factory Mopar bumper. It has matching sidesteps, and rear. They don't make it anymore, and only cheap looking aftermarkets are available. So, I had to fix and rechrome this one. I actually got the 3'' tube, and had a auto shop, block it and weld new pieces. But, when removing those plastic pieces, I stretched one of the fasteners, and I would like to get new ones.

Yes, I'm aware that most people mod their jeeps. While, I think that is super cool, I like my loaded stock Yuppie build. Anyone know the name of this part, please?

Just remove them both. They are just there for looks.

I never saw chrome bumpers from the factory on a TJ. Unless you bought it new that way from the dealer.

not sure where to get the part, but yeah they are "factory" bumpers that were made by Mopar, you could order them from the dealer. Some dealers would even put them on Jeeps there in house then add them to the sticker price.

It is factory from Jeep but the bumpers and nerf bars were actually made by "Manik"

Well, as a parts guy, I'd call it a "grommet", or "cover". Maybe. But in reality it's garbage. Or, something that should be removed and scrapped.

I have the complete '97 factory parts listing but it doesn't show that aftermarket bumper. My bet is your dealer probably bought them as a set from a local 4x4 store & had them installed. I used to be in the aftermarket Jeep parts/services business & that very common.

I do have some Mopar aftermarket parts lists but chrome tube bumpers don't show up on them.

Yes they were an option, my bad, but the part he is looking for is not listed separately.

Maybe they were available through the Mopar Performance Catalog. It doesn't matter though at this point, those grommets or whatever you want to call them are not available. Scrap that crap!

It was in the 2004 parts. At the very top. Let me look at the 97 list.

That section started to appear in the 2000 parts list so I assume he has a 2000 or later.

I guess they did not start listing those accessories in the parts fiche until 2000. Either way I do not see it as a part you can order. Maybe if he took a picture of it to a dealer their more updated parts manuals may show it.

Personally I have stopped looking for that type of info if the poster does not have the sense to supply the info when he posts the question.

Nope. I ordered it that way directly from the factory in 1997. I waited like six months to get it. I finally got it in April, near my birthday, in 1997.
It was my first new car. So, it is special to me.

Not really. There is ugly welding underneath those covers. But aren't a lot of the mods and accessories about looks as well?

The list that came from the Mopar option book when I ordered the car in 1997. I think I kept it for nostalgia. I'm sure that some of you must remember that book at the dealership regardless of the year. The problem is that most Mopar stuff before 2004 isn't available anymore.

Sorry, I didn't post the year. I assumed it was a generic part from 1997-2001, at least, on tubular bumpers. Mine is a 1997 Jeep Wrangler Sport.

I only wish I had got the winch now too. Especially after seeing all the cool things people do to help others with them here.

Can you really pull someone out with a Winch? (I meant someone's car. lol.)

They are part # RT - 123c. Rubber Thingy for Chrome Bumper.
If you like the chrome, keep it !
Don't let someone else tell you what color or style you Should run cause they don't like what you have. It's YOUR Jeep. Just sayin

They are just some cosmetic rubber things. You can probably make them yourself or make something much cooler to replace them.

Just felt that it was needed to be said, damn guys, leave him alone and let him mod his jeep the way he likes. Not saying this towards anyone specific just hate when i see everyone complaining about what people do in the auto world. Can't we all just appreciate that we all have the same love and interest for the hobby?

Thanks everyone. Jeeps are the coolest vehicles in the world, in my opinion. I've seen unbelievable mods. I had forgot that the Jurassic Park movie used a Jeep, and that Jeeps were World War II vehicles. Jeeps have an awesome history, I'm glad to be a part of it.
Thanks for all of your comments, critical, supportive and everything else. It's great to be accepted into the wonderful Jeep family.

Do you have a link for that part anywhere? Thanks.

In the 1950's chrome was the "in" thing. Now, its not, I guess.
But, everything goes in cycles."Fleetwood Mac"

My next mod are chrome hood latches. Guess, I'll never learn. lol.
