What part is this

There is a cylinder shaped "thing" directly in front of the master cylinder of my tj. it has 2 lines coming off of it and one of the steel lines has a crack in it so i need to replace it, i just wanted to know what it was exactly. you can see it in the pic(not mine) just to the right of the master cylinder, it has a steel band around it to hold it in place. My guess is its the way to get brake fluid into the trans and that its only on manuals. Thanks guys

Where do the lines go? And what do you mean by brake fluid to the transmission? The transmission doesn't need any brake fluid although the hydraulic clutch does use brake fluid. It looks to me like a charcoal canister for smog stuff. Does one of the lines go to the manifold for vacuum?

To make finding a hose for it easier, it is more properly called the evaporative canister though it does have carbon charcoal inside it.
When you have a choice, buy American.
