What year do you think this pump is? (prize for the right answer)

Thinking I had all my things in order, I unbolted my water pump and lo, it doesn't look like anything my new FlowKooler would replace. It's off of a 2000 TJ Sport, which my vendor supposedly matched. Anyone tell me this is off of another year's Jeep instead?

Since it's Sunday, haven't talked to the vendor yet, but I'm assuming one of the two of us screwed up. I'm dead in the water 'till then....

I actually did pull it off my 2000 TJ, but it seems weird somehow.

Sport I take it a 4.0L...

And with those 3 bolts in the top of the pump it looks Pre-1999. Jeep did a lot of small changes to the 4.0L through its production. The pump you got (new) is for a 2000+ which is correct, but your block is a 99.

You know what, I was wrong, I got my numbers confused.

They did send you the wrong one in fact, it fits 1999 and older TJ's.

So, just to clarify, my current (leaky) pump is in fact a 2000, as it should be, but the vendor sent me '99 and older? Could this year be tricky for vendors in general to match correctly?

Also, the letters on the side (shown below) mean it's reverse rotation, right? Do they say anything else I should know?

Much appreciated.

Like I said, it can be tricky because Jeep made several revision to different aspects of the 4.0L through it's production run. Some parts are not even interchangeable between Cherokee's, Grand Cherokee's, and Wranglers. And yes, it is a reverse rotation.

Hell, Jeep used two different unit bearings on my '99 XJ so I found out the hard way which rotors I needed.

Actually! Sorry, I was wrong again!

That REV stamp is for REVISION. The fins on your pump face away from the block meaning that it's a regular rotation. If the fins were visible when the pump is removed you'd see and 'R' stamped on a fin meaning reverse.

Again, sorry for my lack of correct info. Been a long day.

I appreciate any and all information, so thanks.

The fins on my pump and the FlowKooler are the same direction, though, and the FlowKooler is CCW, so...

The correct part #1750 is on it's way. That one is also CCW. You're right, though -- There's no "R" stamped anywhere I can see.
