Question whats the 'PART TIME' light in my dash telling me?

hate to sound this stupid, but just bought an '01 TJ with 231 tc and when shifted into 4h or 4L dash light says 'part time'

whats the deal?

Its all good. Just a the way DC made it.

because your 4-wheel drive (hi or low) is only supposed to be used "part time" or off-road only. Its just telling you that your in part-time 4wd.

XJ Limited came with the NP 242 T-case (selec-trac) that gave you the choice of 4-hi part time and 4-hi full time. It's easier to make one console.

I have front and rear locker indicators in my dash. I doubt there going to come on though, something about the X package being to trusting.

It's different. Full Time 4x4 allows you to drive on wet pavement (even dry pavement if you like) without putting too much strain on the driveline. It works like an all-wheel drive system.
