What's wrong with my Jeep? Clutch?

Hey guys,

I was going to school this morning when suddenly a screeching noise came from my Jeep, lasting about 10 seconds and then going away. It didn't happen the rest of the way to school (5 miles). Then as I was coming home from school, it started again. It would randomly start screeching for no reason, I would be driving and it would screech. It wouldn't do it for long periods of time, it would only last 5-10 seconds, starting back up every 30-60 seconds or so. Then as I was coming down my road, whenever I pushed in the clutch there would be a loud screeching noise, louder then previously. Now whenever I push in the clutch, the noise starts.

So what is it? Do I have to replace my clutch or is it just a berring?

Thanks in advance,
Jake

Its the throw-out bearing. In order to replace it, you'll have to pull the xfer case and transmission. That translates to replacing the clutch assembly since you'll have it all apart anyway. Parts should run around $200.00 or so depending where you source them. Luk clutches are rated about the best for TJs.

Yep sounds like a throw out bearing to me as well. Not too expensive to fix but fairly labor intensive.
