Wheel Spacers

I just purchased a 1998 Wrangler that has wheel spacers with 33x12.5x15 installed by PO. When changing a tire today I looked at the nuts holding the spacer to the hub/original lug bolts and there is only about 1/3 of the nut screwed onto the lug bolts - they are tight and down as far as they can go. It appears unusual to me, but this is my first experience with wheel spacers. Is this normal?

Make sure you have the right kind of spacers, this doesn't sound right at all, there should be 4 or so full threads sticking out the top of the lug nut.

This is the wrong kind of spacer, if you have these, get rid of them as fast as you can, they are dangerous.

These are the kind of spacers you need to run if you need a spacer -

If these are the kind of spacers you have and the lug nuts are only 1/3 of the way on, you need to replace the unit bearings, although I can't imagine all the studs breaking like that and I really can't imagine someone being stupid enough to cut them that short.

There are a million ways to build a Jeep, pick one and do it - you bought a canvas, not a painting!

My spacers are the right type. I pulled another tire tonight and looked at the nuts holding the spacers on the studs. The nuts are probably 1 inch deep. If they were the depth of a normal nut there would be several threads sticking out past the end of the nut, so I think I am OK.

Thanks. I am sure I will have newbie as time goes on.
