whining clutch

every time i press my clutch, i hear a whining sound. its been getting louder over the past few weeks. I don't know if i need to replace the clutch or if it may be something else, but when i let off the clutch the wine goes away. if anyone has any ideas, i'd appreciate it.
thanks,
wynn

I would say it's the throw out bearing and depending on how many miles that are on that clutch of your choice to change the clutch and pressure plate while you have it apart.I personally would go ahead and get the whole kit(CLUTCH,PRESSURE PLATE,THROW OUT BEARING,PILOT BEARING AND ALIGNMENT TOOL)and do it all while it is out unless the clutch is 20,000 miles or less.Anything more than that replace the whole thing, anything less than that and someone didn't put the whole thing in the last time.

If it whines, it should fit in nicely on the forum!
