Whining noise when idle!? manual

Have a manual 2.5 1997. Whenever the cars idle it has a whining sound like a winch. If I give it a tiny bit of gas the noise raises pitch. Any ideas?
It used to do it when I was offroading but now it's all the time.

I believe the throw out bearing has a howl to it due to contact with the clutch fingers when it is disengaged. Don't think it will be a problem until it makes noise disengaging the clutch.
