whistling chirping sound

Hey guys I'm sort of a noob when it comes to jeeps and knowing alot about them. With that being said i've only owned my TJ for about year and am experiencing my first problem or bazaar noise. There is a high pitched chirping or whistling sound coming from i believe somewhere near my tires. I've tried putting it in neutral and reving the engine and there is no sound. It seems to only occur when the wheels are moving. It happens mainly when slowing down or coasting in neutral to a stop. brakes applied or not the sound is there. Same sound occurs even if in gear. It starts when picking up and seems to go away once in 4th gear or is not as noticeable at higher speeds. The whistle is loudest between 0 and 30mph, and doesn't seem to get louder or softer by turning left or right. Also the whistle continues all the way until i come to a complete stop where it then stops. Is somethin catching wind or rubbing possibly? I have heard air intakes may whistle and i do have a k&N intake but it is definately not coming from under my hood. Any ideas on what this could be. Its very annoying!

Well it could be ujoints or a bearing in your rear axle. Wheel bearing, carrier bearing, or pinion bearing. How many miles on your jeep? How does the fluid in the rear axle look? Not creamy?

I thought "chirping birds" was the CV joint in the front driveshaft?

Yep. Check out "angry sparrows" and you may have found your culprit.

Just went thought the same thing but mine had a bit of a rattle also. Sure enough... Front drive line. More specifically 1 u-joint and the cv assembly. It's in the shop as we speak (write hehe). Figured it out after changing both wheel bearing hubs. Good luck!

Fluids look good and my U-joints are all less than a year old. checked the hubs and they were fine. Greased all the U-Joints up real good. Whistle GONE! Its been couple weeks now and the whistle has not returned. Guessing it was just a U-joint that seemed to be going a little dry. Thanks for the feedback guys!
