wiper fuse popping

struggling with main windshield wipers. Fuse popping, usually after truck has been in the rain.

Typically, after it's had a chance to dry out in the heat, I replace the 20a fuse behind the glove box, and it works...for a bit.

I replaced the wiper motor about 8 months ago. While that could be suspect, I'm not thinking so. I'm dealing with some windshield frame rot, so it's like some water is finding it way into somewhere it shouldn't be.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. No other electrical troubles. 97 Wrangler Sport.

Either there is a short in the wiring, or the wiper motor is drawing too many amps.

You might also check the linkage to make sure it's not binding, that might cause the motor draw extra amps.

Sorted this out, and thought I'd share my findings with the crew here.

For those that have not worked on their wiper assembly...I found an part of the wiper linkage that would occasionally striking a bolt head. Hence, popping the fuse.

For those that are more familiar with the wiper assembly...the three bolts that fasten the wiper motor to the wiper linkage assembly, it was these three 10mm bolt heads. The short (4"-5") arm that mounts to the wiper motor shaft...this was the part that could strike the bolt heads.

Using a dremel, I ground a bit of a groove in the arm to clear the bolt heads. I went a bit heavier on the leading edge of the arm, again, to avoid a strike and stall against a bolt head.

I tweaked the arm a bit in a vise, as well as installing a washer between the arm and the fastener. Even with the fastener tight, there was some play. Washer eliminated this.

Sorry for not snapping a pic to make this all clearer, but hopefully this makes sense. It's a pretty simple assembly, but definitely wasn't where I expected to find my 'electrical' problem :)
