I recently replaced my front brakes with Wagner ceramic pads but now need to decide what to use for the rear shoes. As I understand the braking system the front disc brakes do about 80% of the braking, so with the rear shoes only doing around 20% how important is it to use a really expensive brand of shoe and not just the store brand semimetalic shoe? O'Reilly's auto parts sells their brand of shoes for between $15-$25 while a set of Wagner shoes sells for around $70.
Are the rear shoes really worth spending that much extra for better performance? Don't mind the extra money if I'm going to gain any extra stopping power.
Sounds good to me, and I'm only running 31s, but with a replacement coming up soon I may go back to the original 30s since I'm having problems with my right hip and every additional increase in height makes it harder to get in/out.
