That's a handy chart. In the instances the 5-433-1x is recommended for the CV in non-Rubicons, you still use the 5-785x or 5-153x there too. The 5-433-1x is just a stronger version of the 153x, both of which are greasable. The 5-785x is sealed.

Can we get this updated with precision part numbers as well??? I can tell you, despite what O'reilly and Napa have to say, the rear pinion U-Joint on a 2006 Rubicon Unlimited is 270, the books is a 280... HMMM.

From reading this, the 97 and 98 didn't have a CV in the front driveshaft?

An update from JERRY: Update it to show the new 5-1310x that is replacing the 5-785x.

It may be best to just add the new 5-1310x and keep the 5-785x there as well. Dealers are going to keep selling the 5-785x until they run out as it is still is a very good u-joint.

I looked everywhere for this. In the driveway today, axle out from the car, recklessly losing bearings from old U-joints so I throw them away, only to be mid project and find out that the 5 U-joints I have are for a regular TJ and it's freaking Friday. FML. Just found out proper U-joints and one site to order a lllllll of them from at once, $18 for 2 day shipping…..yes please, guess i'll have to wait until then. Lesson learned, no projects on friday anymore, and research everything about projects before starting them. Add to all this that the Snap-on torque wrench I just won on ebay showed up broken, and the guy said it was new…HA!!!

Spicer's 5-785x has been obsoleted by Spicer. It was replaced by the 5-1310x as recommended above. The 5-1310x is the right replacement u-joint choice for both driveshafts on all TJs with the exception of the Rubicon.

you know were the 97 had a round section with a spring between the 2 u joints. Is the set up the same in a 04 or is it just 2 u joints connected by a h shaped yoke then connects to tc? never work with a design like that.

Spicer part # 5-790x has been made obsolete and replaced by part 5-1330x
This is the non-greasable one. (Spicer Life Series)

I was looking to purchase new U-joints for my 98 TJ and noticed that the 5-1310x have 2 different sized cups:

Cup Size A= 1.062in.
Cup Size B= 1.125in.

while the 5-153x both cups are 1.062in.

Is this the wrong one?
