Xj Transfer case, will it fit!

Local guy is parting out a cherokee. Unsure of the year.

It has the NP231J transfer case that was mounted to an AX-15 transmission which is just like my 97 sport!

The reason I want is because it already has an SYE installed. He is not sure of brand. I could get the whole thing for $100, but only have till friday night to decide as it will be scrapped.

Thanks!

-P.S. I know the drive shafts would be too long, but maybe the double cardan rear shaft can be shortened and balanced for cheap?

Pull the trigger if you have the hundie, worse comes to worse you can sell the TC to an XJ guy if it doesnt work. That said I don't see why it wouldn't, a 231J is a 231J as long as its from behind the same engine IE, 4.0-4.0.

I'm assuming that because both vehicles had the same engine and trans it would have the same input shaft and spline count. But let's say it doesn't, would it be worth a $100 to just move over the SYE to my tc? That's if it's even possible to do. I wish I could figure of what brand it was
