1989 Axle swap to 1993 axle

I am swapping the Dana 30 in YJ to match the 4.10 gears in the back.

Will the 93 YJ axle and brakes just bolt up to the 89 frame? Can I reuse my 1989 4wd acuator in the 93 axle?

thanks
B

Yes. It should all bolt up. I swapped 1995 axles into my 1990 YJ. You'll need new U-bolts to attach the axles to the springs. It's not recommended to re-use them.

if the shoes are the same size, i think there were two different size shoes and drums, w/ no logic as to which jeeps got which brakes.

My 89 2.5 had the non C-clip D35 in the rear with 10"drums. The axle I picked up off my friend from his 93 2.5l has 9"drums.

Thanks guys. I did the back brakes and experienced the brake-size-difference-blues.

I conquered that hill, but now I am prepping for the front axle. It looks like different part numbers for 87-89 and the 90-and up YJ. But if the axle housing is only thing that changes, will my 1989 hub, rotor, and caliper bolt up to the 93 axle?

yea that was what i was talking about , they should bolt up to your axle only thing you have to change that i notice is the Steering knuckle this is the steering knuckle for the 87-89 yjs
THis is the steering knuckle for the 90-95 yjs

not to sure about any other parts you have to change.
