Angry 1990 wrangler tund off while driving and wont start

my 1990 yj wrangler turned off while driving and wont start back up . about 2 months ago it was left idling while parked and it shut off and wouldnt start . i changed the fuel pump and it still didnt work , I then replaced the fuel pump relay and it started and ran fine

Not sure about the other symptoms you list, but cutting out while running only to not start again sounds like the Coil.

Have you checked for spark? Could be the coil, or if an aftermarket Distributor is on it, could be the ignition module.

I think we went through this here recently, but I think I remember that the 4.0 does not have an ignition control module. If it were a 4.2 then I would guess the icm.
