1990 YJ door locks

i recently got a 90 yj and the door locks don't seem to work. when i press them to "lock" they are hard to push and won't stay locked. i tried with the key and it moves but doesn't lock the doors. are they fixable or do i have to buy new locks?

One of the doors on my YJ does something similar. It locks but it's inconsistent and hard to push unlike the other one which is fluid and clearly works. I've been wondering what the issue may be. Just been hesitant to rip open the door and play with it.

Could be a door lock rod clip broke or worn out. Could also be that the door lock rod is bent. Gonna have to get those panels off and check it out to be certain. Hope this helps.

I messed with the driver side lock and it's now working. But the passenger isn't. It feels like the tumbler just moves freely. I guess it's either broke or bent. I'm going to take it apart this weekend and see.

Not sure how to explain it, but if I press the locks hard enough they lock.
