1995 yj water pump

Got to work today to find my water pump blew up, green stuff was everywhere under the hood.

My question, what is a good brand/ model to buy? And should I replace the lines as well.

Thanks

blew up??...as in came all apart??...rare....usually they just weep out the weep hole and whine when they're going out...any of those 2 symptoms?...sure it isn't just a hose leak?

Hello, first off i'm pretty new when it comes to jeeps.

I've been looking for a image of it with no luck. It is over the side front tire. It didn't "blow up" as in peices but it shot green anti-freeze all over the engine, out of the hood, and created a big puddle on the ground. I own a haynes manual but i'm out of town at the moment. is the weep hole on top? if so could make sense it shot out of there. I have been hearing a random whine, I thought it might have been a belt.

Do you have a diagram or know where one is to positive id this part?

This "pump" has 2 hoses it looks like, with a electrial plug on the side(closes to the outside tire) seems like on the other side of the electrial plug there should be another hose?? maybe it blew off.

Thanks for any help. I can't afford to take it to a mechanic.

And BTW, the water pump is located right on the very front of the motor....your fan is attached to it....

Two hoses and an electrical connector sounds like the water outlet.

Roughly centered on the block with your fan attached to the front = water pump.

Upper front of the block with 2 hoses and an electrical connector (coolant temperature sensor) on the right side = water outlet.

If you're missing a hose on the water outlet, then you've definitely found the source of your problem. There are two hoses on the water outlet. The large diameter hose goes to your upper radiator port. The smaller hose goes to your heater core. The heater core fitting is on the firewall to the right of the battery (standing at front bumper looking in - passenger side)

If you end up replacing the water outlet, go ahead and replace the thermostat at the same time. It is right behind the water outlet.

The water pumps are almost always connected directly to the fan, if the vehicle has an engine driven fan.

guys, the way he's describing the location of the problem, i'm not so sure he's not talking about the receiver/dryer for the a/c and the freon has the green dye in it....looks a lot like coolant, has 2 hoses and electrical connection, and is located near the wheel well.....told me in a pm that he drove it about 3 miles AFTER the problem with no rise in his temp. guage. I believe the dude has blown an a/c hose....he also said in the pm that the hoses were about 1/2" to 3/4" in dia....what ya'll think?

Only fluid in my YJ that is green is the engine coolant, and some wiper fluids are also green. No AC so I don't know where that would mount, but the washer fluid reservoir is right above the front driver's tire. If it started leaking I can see the tire throwing the fluid everywhere
