There are many things to check before you pull the engine..first make sure that the pvc or ccv system is functioning like it should. Does the motor skip or use oil? You could have worn rings or a cracked ring that could cause excessive crankcase pressure, it could be a holed piston but that should cause a skip or rough running.
Rebuilding the engine is a pretty good project and not one to do if you don't have the tools and knowledge. You should be able to rebuild one for about $1200 for a decent job , clutch included.
Switch to 10/30

OK the 40W oil is a little much. 10W-30 is sufficient and in the summer a 10W-40.

What is the oil pressure gauge reading???? Check the oil level on the dipstick. The 2.5L engine will spit out any that is excess so oil level is critical.
The oil pump has a built in pressure relief at 75psi and if it is reading above that on the gauge you may have a pump issue.

The valve cover has two hoses coming out of it. The rear is the fresh air intake for the PCV/CCV system and the front is where the PCV valve or the CCV orifice is located. There are also baffles inside the valve cover. They should clean and free flowing if they are clogged meaning the PCV/CCV then you will push oil everywhere it can get out.

You need to do a little work like cleaning the parts mentioned and make sure the hoses are not collapsed when warm if they are old I suggest replacing they are cheap.

Let us know how this is going.
