2.5L performance

I'm looking for a couple of thing I can do to improve the 2.5L. I realize swapping the engine will come up a few times but that is not what i'm looking to do. Does anyone know of any add-ons for the 2.5L. I understand I won't gain a ton of horsepower and torque with add-ons. Anyone add an electric fan? K&N air filter or cold air intake? 4.0L throttle body? Exhaust?

There's an air restrictor in the outlet (Where hose to throttle body connects)of the air intake box that you can take out..gets abit noisier, but it's atleast a little more air, very little performance gain but maybe a little, and it's free. just need a flat head screw drivers and some pliers to pull it out. I put a catback on it...get a better catback than the dynomax, I just got mine cuz the exhaust fell apart and it was cheap, still gave a little extra performance and a nice sound, and I've heard when you combine new headers/manifold pipe with a cat back there's a fairly "significant" increase, but that's about all I know. Cold air intake might help a little, snorkel does the same thing but more effectively because it's in a higher air pressure area, And that's just about it. Unless you stick a turbo on it. some company or another makes a turbo kit for it.

Oh I see I thought the air restrictor was at the inlet of the air box. I found the air restrictor mod thread and found where it actually is. I'll try it like you said it's free. How do you feel about k&n panel filters.

To be entirely honest, I don't know. I know K&N and other air intakes are tried and true, but with an engine like the 2.5, the effects are minimal. If you mean a K&N filter in place of the OEM filter in the box, it will probably increase air flow a little, dunno though. Also, the 4.0L throttle body is supposed to do a little...throttle body spacer might help as well.

I installed a airaid air intake system that included a throttle body spacer and you can notice a difference.

ive heard a full service, and the right spark plugs do wonders for those 4 angry squirrels.
if you were to go with a full exhaust and intake, it would kinda make sense to chip it as well. still may not get much, but it could be interesting

also, if you dont have to worry about emissions, ditch all that stuff. or at least make sure ur cat isnt all clogged up.

in theory an electric fan could be very noticeable with such a low powered engine. it wouldnt really add any power, but it would free up the engine a little more, maybe let it rev a little faster, which in turn could feel like a good power gain judging by the "seat of the pants" dyno. also i guess there are added cooling benefits if your doing some hardcore low speed wheeling

i know any vehicle i have will get an electric fan if it doesnt already have one. i just like them alot better, and after seeing how week mechanical fans can be(specifically on a 6.2 diesel) they are an upgrade i really like

I also have questions about adding power to my 2.5l TBI version.
Where I can buy 4.0l spacer (if it is possible)
And what are other ways to add power to 2.5l TBI version?

HA!! Thats 2 words I never thought I'd see. 2.5 and performance!! I found another forum that has ALOT of performance mods for the 2.5's. They even mention something about Ford injectors for those of us with MPI. I can't think of the name of it right off. I'm at work, but when I get home I'll look for it and post up a link.
