I have an 89 with a2.5 FBI that sputters at around 200 to 2200rpms in any gear. If I step on it, of is smooth. At idol, it's smooth, but every now and then, it'll sputter slightly. I've replaced the fuel filter, changed the plugs, gapped at .35, changed the plug wires, cleaned the Carb, seafoamed it. I noticed the distributor cap was loose, so I pulled it, used Scotch brite on the contacts and tightened it all up. Any ideas of what else could cause this?
I have access to my brothers wrecked 91yj (I think he's regretting storing it here) and was thinking of pulling his distributor off of it to put on mine. But it's an mpi 2.5. Will it be a direct swap? Will it even work? I've searched here and Google, but wasn't able to find an answer. I'm starting to think there's a reason I didn't find an answer. I'd someone could clarify or fill me in on what would need to happen for it to work, it'd be greatly appreciated.
