 Ok, I got a big question for all the Jeepers out there with more experience than me, which amounts to almost every member here! I want to swap my 2.5L in my 1995 Wrangler for a 4.0L. I haven't chose a year most likey a 94,95, or a 1996 Cherokee. I have a 999 auto tranny and I want to know what I need from the doner vehicle and I wonder what else I need for the swap ie: motor mounts, computer, wiring. Any help would be greatly appriciated. I'm in my first year of my ASE certification and I have the know how to swap an engine but not the experience.

I don't know if you have emissions testing in your state, but if you do then you are going to have to use a motor of the same year or newer. If you are swapping in the 4.0 then you might as well put in a fuel injected 4.0 in it as well. I'm a little sketchy on what year they started putting the HO 4.0's in Jeeps, but it would be well worth it. Hackle on this board has done this swap in about a week and used a 98 4.0 into his YJ I believe.

But yes you are going to have to relocate your motor mounts, and you will need the wiring harness, computer etc... The more parts that are useable off the donor vehicle the better.
