2nd Throttle Position Sensor in 2 months

I recently broke down on the highway after overheating. The end result was a small pin hole in one of the hoses. This also took the Throttle position sensor with it. Yesterday I started overheating again. Luckily I was pulling into my driveway. It looks as if the TPS is bad again. Any idea what would cause it to go bad so quick?
