3 Speed Trans Question...

I think I got water in my trans. I went through a pretty deep puddle and then my jeep wouldn't come out of first. Got it on the street and got it to shift but it's not good. I changed the filter and it is better but still not right. My question is, is there a way to make a 904 without the crank sensor work on my 91? Buddy of mine has a recently rebuilt trans and only wants $250.

Was the trans fluid pink and milky looking? If not, then water probably isn't the problem. I would be looking at the kick down linkage. I believe these trannys have that (may not though as I'm new to the Jeep world).

Check Linkage and Fluid Color.. Unless you had a Tranny fluid leak etc there shouldn't be any water damage..

I had checked the fluid on the trail when it wouldn't shift. Looked fine. Drove the rest of the day. I came home and did a filter, but the fluid still looked good. I am a mechanic by day but not a trans specialist. It just seemed like it happenned as soon as I got unstuck from the water hole.
