4.2l auto trans fluid

Is there any special transmission fluid that I should use on my 87 auto transmission???? I heard that the transmission can be a little picky and just wondering if I should use something special to keep it real nice.

it is the manuals that are picky, but there is some contrasting info on the autos to. i believe according to chrysler atf+4 superseded the previous fluids and is good. others say the older fluid is best. but here's the deal, at my shop we are a valvoline shop. valvoline max life atf covers 95% of vehicles out there, i have a chart on the wall of what fluid came from the factory, and if valvoline max life atf is approved, and it is good on basically everything, i'd just go that route, and i do.
