4.3l chevy small block v6 swap?

hey guys, im considering swapping the 4.3l out of my dads s10 blazer into my yj with the 2.5l. i know it would allow me to put much bigger tires on and add more power. is this a good engine swap or would i run into alot of problems, because i want a more powerful engine but i don't want to sell my yj. help!

I really like my 4.3 in my Silverado. I hope you can make it work. There's a TJ near here for sale with a 5.3 (350) in it so anything is possible. Just make sure to start a thread and post LOTS of pictures if you do it!

I don't know how to convert, but my first truck had the 4.3L and it was just about the best V-6 I've ever owned. Tons of power too..

I hope you know what you are in for. Any motor swap in a yj you will be opening up a large can of worms. Not for somebody who is unsure of what they are doing...

This swap is every bit as easy as the 350 swap ,the 4.3 is the same width as the 350 its just shorter ,think of the 4.3 as a 350 w/ 2 cylinders cut off .The AX5 won't hold up forever thats for sure,Craigslist is full of AX15's (around my area anyway).Or if you can find something directly compatable with the 4.3 go with that .Good luck !

The 4.3L in my truck just crapped out at 205,000 a couple months ago. I need to rebuild it so I have a truck again but I never thought about putting it in the Jeep.... I will most likely rebuild it and keep the truck for another 200,000.

Oh its also a 5 speed so if you want to buy me a set of new BFG KM2's I think we could make a fair trade!

I have a four banger also. I'd love to have a V8 in mine but it's a daunting task for someone who hasn't done it before. After reading Novak Conversion's website about installing Chevrolet & GM engines into the Jeep TJ & LJ Wranglers I reconsidered.
Cost and mechanical aptitude my biggest concerns. I'm more of a shade tree mechanic. A covered place to work is another concern. I wouldn't want to be doing a major job like this in my driveway. I don't think the neighbors would appreciate that. Go to Novak's website and read what all is involved in swapping out one engine for another.

yep, that's how it came from the factory. great truck, which is why I would like to rebuild it but Jeep parts could sway my decision.

This is one that I built for a sonoma I had ,really miss that truck (but I hate IFS ! ) So if you have any ????'s about the 4.3 I am very familiar with them.

Some day in the future...should the I4 or tranny expire...would love a 4.3/auto.

In your experience, how difficult was the PCM and all other wiring required to set up?

I had a 4.3 in a S10 5 speed 4x4 and it ran good! So if I put the power train of a S10 in my wrangler that would be what I'm looking for!

Very simple to figure out,all sensors have a unique plug ,basically if it doesnt fit it doesnt belong ,Autozone has detailed wiring diagrams which were helpful when I was restoring the sonoma to find grounding issues etc..The pcm in the 2nd gen. s10's is located behind the glovebox and has a large plug-in from the harness .The 4.3 you see pictured is actually out of a 94 which is the "W" series 4.3 which had a different fuel injection setup than my 91 which was TBI .I had to modify the TBI intake to clear the balance shaft that the 94 has attached to the cam .I have owned 4 s10 trucks ,the 4.3 will be my choice for a swap when I get the time to do it.Im on here a lot so if you have questions regarding the 4.3 I dont mind getting the answers for you if I can.

Love Monza's my brother had one with a 600 hp 350 ,it was cammed so much it would stall if you didnt feather the pedal when stopped .Couldn't keep clutches in it ,the motor eventually went in my Dad's AMC Hornet and it got sold .

mine would lounge while sitting at a light or stop sign.. the brakes couldnt even hold it still... i loved it... but it had the normal monza rust... so i traded it off...
