4.9 stroker ?

Ok im getting ready to buy a stroker for my 1990 but i want to know if it is worth taking a chance on the 4.9? im hearing that they are very powerful but durable isn't a factor with them cause they are bored out to much! is this true? anyone experience one of these engines? I hear the 4.6 4.7 are great engines but if im gunna do a motor swap im going BIG!!!! but i dont want a shitty motor that cost $3600. Some tips would be great!!!

And im doing a carb engine so what carb would you suggest? Holley 4bbl?? Edelbrock??

The jeep mag. did build of the jeep motor and got 560 hp out of it and did several wfo dyno runs with no issues . then they pulled the motor apart and the bore marks were still visible . they were very impressed with how reliable the motor was even pushing that much power to its limit.

they must be put together well if they cover them for 3 years.
if you do make sure to start a thread so we can know how good they are.

There is no way I would consider some dyno runs and a look and see at the cross hatch to be any sort of measure of the long term reliability of an engine.
In my experience the 4.9 is a good high H/P engine for a trail rig. But where the reliability issue comes in is longevity. If someone offers a 3 year warranty, that says a LOT more to me than a Jeep mag article.

X2.

The problem with running engines this far modded from factory specs, using mostly factory parts is wear. Running that much more stroke with stock rod lengths puts huge amounts of side thrust on the cylinder bores. I couldn't see the cylinder walls and rings lasting like a stock engine in a daily driver.
