Thumbs down 4 Low wont stay engaged

When assending, 4 Low seems to stay in lock, but when decending steep grades it jumps out unless I hold it in. I tried a new NoVAK shifter and did the same thing. The adjustments are right and the needle and spring on the selector inside the transfer case is in the correct position. WHAT ELSE WOULD CAUSE THIS SCARY PROBLEM GOING DOWNHILLLLLL.

There is only a 3" lift and the HOLE is the original with plenty of clearance.

I am having the same problem with 4L and am still working on it. but for the time being a stiff bungee cord wrapped around the shift lever and back to the base of the drivers seat has helped

If it isn't in the linkage, something has to be binding up or not all the way engaging in the t-case. The nylon inserts on the shift fork in your t-case might be worn out.

This happens to a friend of mine while he is going up hill. Another person I know can not get his to go into 4L until he is moving. There seems to be a defect with 4L. So far, I have not had any problems with mine, but I find it interesting that other are having the same trouble.
