Hey guys. I have a 1995 YJ. My current 2" lift has just about had it and I'm due for a new lift. I'm looking for a reliable lift that is going to last, but I also use the YJ as a daily driver. I have heard mixed reviews about the 4" Rough Country lifts. I have also been looking at the heavy-rate Superlift lift kits. If anyone has any input, please post! I will take into account everyone's ideas!
i have a superlift on my 95 and it seems to ride decent. of course i also added bilstein shocks. ive had mine 2 yrs and done a frame up restore and now have at last count 26000.00. good luck and happy spending. lotsa mods ......
That's definitely not a bad price. I am working on a budget and that's why I was looking at the Rough Country lifts. I didn't know Rusty's made a YJ lift, so I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the infor, Samm!
I have the 4" RC lift and I am very happy with it. I did change the shocks to hydraulic rather than the gas shocks that came with it. I also removed the front and rear track bars and the sway bars. Very smooth for a short wheelbase vehicle, handles great off road and only minimal body roll on the road.
When I got the lift, it came standard with the hydro shocks. I paid for the upgraded gas shocks. In my opinion the gas shocks are rated for a heavier vehicle. Was a pretty bouncy ride. I currently have Pro Comp RS 3000 shocks. The steering stabalizer is still the RC and works great.
I just installed the 4" n2.0 RC lift and I love it. It is a little bouncy but it rides alot smoother than with the flat springs I did have, and I removed the trac bar and it runs alot better. thinking about trying it without the sway bar here pretty soon. prob wait til after I align it to try it though.
I absolutely LOVE my RC 4 inch lift. Its got the gas shocks but I find no complaints about bounce that the other guys do. It was $449 shippid and it came with everything, poly bushings, tranny drop bracket, dropped pitman arm, the whole 9m yds. Do yourself a favor no matter what you end up with...... DITCH THE TRACK BARS!!!! I cannot believe how much better it handles without them. Its my DD and I go roughly 100 to 200 miles a day depending on where I'm heading. Its like a new vehicle without them. It perfectly safe, the leaf springs keep the axle centered in the chassis.
I had the RC 4 in lift and it was excellent only swapped it out for an RC 6in I'm not sure you can get a better warranty either. Removing the trac bars definitely improves the ride but I kept the sway bar and use quick disconnect end links and have no body roll.
Well, you guys are definitely making me feel better about the RC lift. That's awesome. For a while, I felt it hard to believe that a lift for that price good hang with the likes of Skyjacker and Superlift. But I haven't heard anything bad about the RC lift, so that's always good!
