4cyl yj with one ton axles on 38.5

I have a 4cyl yj with one ton axles and the only problem I have is wen I'm going up steep rocks or hills the jeep won't go up if it's too steep or it will turn off. Wat gears can I put in so it can help me?? I was thinking 5.13.

What gears do you have now? How much highway use does it see? There are lots of gear calculators out there that will tell you where your RPMs will be at speed. I am thinking 5.13's sound good, but if you have limited highway use you may even want to go lower. I am sure someone else will chime in with more experience here specific to your 4 banger. A V8 might solve your problem too.

I would go deeper than 5.13
with a 4 banger on 38.5's. I have 4.88 with 33's and it does ok.

With 38.5", I'd look at doing 5.38 for dual purpose use and 5.86 or 6.17 for offroad only

Right now I have 4.10 gears my max speed in freeway is 40-45. I tow my jeep most of the times. I really don't mind if it effects it on street I want more power for wen I offroad.

5.86 or 6.17 then, you'll have a very powerful offroad rig
