4wd issues

So I have determined that my 4wd does not work on my 92 yj 4.0. I put it in 4wd and drove it a few feet and then jacked the front end up on jack stands and the front wheels turn freely. When I turn the left one the right one does not turn and the same for the right one. I was thinking it could be a vac line. I also noticed that the light on the dash does not work and have replaced the bulb. When I was looking at the front axle near the shift housing there is a wire that is cut. I believe this is the wire for the 4wd shift indicator. Could this be causing an issue and if not I guess I will have to start tracing out the lines.

That wire I belive turns your 4wd light on. When you turn front tire does the drive line move? I'm to sure on this but doesn't your jeep need to be runner for the CAD to work? I think you can move the shift fork in the CAD to lock it, try that. Ive had no experience with the CAD system, I scrapped mine when I got my jeep.

The drive line does move and I am lost on the CAD system also. I have never dealt with one of these. I am thinking about scrapping mine also.

Ok the CAD system use a vaccum motor to move the shift fork. That fork is connected.to a collar peice that slide across the inner shaft, on too the outter shaft to make the two prices one shaft. There are kids you can do to make the fork not move locking it permanently so its always rdy when put in 4wd. There's a posi lock cable also. Or you can get a tj or xj passanger side one peice shaft, and the inner axle seal. Make a plate that covers the CAD hole and you won't have to worry about it.

If you permanently lock the front axle MAKE SURE you get the shafts balanced. Otherwise the vibrations will kill you.

x2 on the shaft balance. I had to replace mine with a Tom Woods drive shaft. Vibration Gone!
