Hello all. Just upgraded to CV front axles and left the Vacuum pump on. Everything works perfect and it does engage into 4x4 hi and low and back to 2wd.
Everything is plugged in as it should be and all vacuum lines are plugged in and intact as well.
But when i engage 4x4 and i know it is working, i also had her on the lift to 100% make sure 4x4 works the damn 4x4 light does not come up!!
Any ideas, or a fix i need to perform after upgrading to CV???
How was it determined that the 4wd actually was working.
My method for the YJ would be to put it in 4wd, jack up the right front (passenger) side wheel and see if I could turn it. If I can, then the CAD is not engaged and it is not really in 4WD.
My light never comes on. The one on my 88 XJ stays on. I just did away with the faulty shift motor, and put the shifter fork in a permenant position ............Works every time :thumb:
Well i know it works, because i can feel the difference in the steering wheel that stiffer wheel sensation, and i also had her up on my lift with all 4 tires off the ground. once engaged they all spin. I mean having a direct axle with no vacuum engagement it is pretty wham bam once the transfer case is engaged with CV jointed axles. So i know it works, just perhaps i am being anal and like to see the light. I am thinking maybe my vacuum switch plug needs to be cleaned or what not.
My 4wd light isnt working either, It is the only Light/guage that doesn't work. I, Like the OP, Just likes to know everythig works. If it is there...It should work. Mine is a 92, It has an electric switch im pretty sure. I will be fixing it whatever it takes. Just because.
PROBLEM FIXED!!! stupid me did not notice that the 4th vacuum line off my switch near the driver side firewall was not connected. Plugged it back into the hose and everything works with vacuum now and the light comes on. WHEW!
