4X4 issues

When I'm in 4h and I put the pedal to the floor, the 4x4 light kicks out. Is this supposed to happen? 4.0L 5 speed.

No, but you shouldn't be punching it in 4x4 either...

That's what I was thinking. It could.just be a bad 4x4 indicator on the t-case.

I really don't know. The light comes back after a couple second.

I would guess that there is a vacuum leak somewhere. At higher RPM's the engine will produce less vacuum. If there is a leak, there may not be enough vacuum to keep 4wd engaged

This. Plus, do you loose the front dif when it happens or does it stay 4X4. If you don't loose it maybe just a vacuum issue under those circumstances. If you have 4X4 and the light stays on during normal driving in 4 wheel drive, don't punch it.

I don't notice the loss of the front diff because it is just for a second or two.
