4x4 Not Working When Cold Out

The title says it all. Just yesterday my 4x4 was working fine and then a little cold weather comes and it doesn't work, I put the jeep in neutral and shift it into 4x4 and the light in the dash doesn't come on nor do the front tires have power, 91 jeep wrangler 4.0l with a new 1993 4.0l swap within the last 90 miles

You have water in your vacuum diaphragm. I had the exact same problem. The water probably got in when your jeep got submerged. And now when the water freezes it doesn't let your shift fork move over in the cad.

The best way to fix it is to eliminate the vacuum system With either posi lock or a tj shaft. That way it can't happen again. A more temporary fix is to pull your diaphragm, warm it up and dry it out. You should also warm your vacuum lines so any water runs out.

Simon has the answer. Warm it works and cold it don't means ice somewhere in the vacuum system for the CAD.
