5th gear- not broken snap ring

I bought my 92 4cyl missing 5th gear. I assumed that it was the common 5th gear snap ring broke but now that I took it apart, I found that 5th gear is still in place and the problem is not what I though it was. I need help quick!! Thanks!

Upon taking the back of the transmission off, I pulled the gear off and all of the grooves are in perfect condition and both gears are in perfect condition. When I would try to use 5th gear there was no grinding, just neutral. Does anybody know what other factors could cause this to happen?

That side of the shifting fork is broke? Do you ever have problems going into reverse?

Most of the time to get it to go into reverse I have to put it into first gear first and then it will go into reverse, otherwise it refuses to go into reverse easily

Here's a picture of it now- (I have the gear pulled back a little bit) does anything look wrong or broken?

I don't see anything out of the ordinary, but I'm far from a trans guru. Does the center shaft have a lot of play in it? The gears look okay from that pic.

The bigger cluster of gears and whatever that is- is really sloppy when I turn it back and fourth. Not sure if that is normal or not
