87 YJ, sputtering when I give it gas

So the latest problem with my Jeep. It starts fine, idles smooth, runs great when I'm REAL easy on the gas. When I try to accelerate, it coughs and chokes almost like a clogged fuel filter. I tried turning it over with the fuel filter off, and it pumped fuel pretty good. Put the fuel filter on, but left it disconnected, and it still pumped just fine. I bypassed the filter, hooking the fuel line direct to the carb, and it still sputtered and coughed when I tried to accelerate it. I have the 4.2L I6 with a pretty new Weber carb. It ran fine until recently. Any ideas??
