88 Wrangler YJ Suspension Lift cost

I have an 88 Wrangler with stock suspension and 31 inch tires. Was thinking about going with 33s and was wondering if it would be better to go with a 2, 3, or 4 inch suspension lift? How much do lifts normally cost? Keeping in mind, I will have a mechanic do all the work.

IF you are going to wheel it you will need a 4" lift. Not sure how you're running 31's on stock springs and not tearing up tires or fenders? I'm running 31's with a 2-1/2" lift.

Depending on the lift you go with figure: $450-$1000. Then what ever your guy will charge to install..Figure 4-6hrs of shop time. Leaf springs are bone simple to install, and can be done if you have your own tools and time.

Im sure I will do something with them since I wont be needing them anymore. The tires arent all that great but the rims are in good shape although the center caps are rusty.

I'm pretty sure it has stock suspension but I am no positive. The 31's fit under it very well and appears to be no rubbing or anything.

I am running the Rubicon Express STD 2-1/2" kit, 31x10.50.15 AT's on 15x8 Crager 252B'sa with 3.75" B.S. My rig has the 4.0L, 5-spd, stock gears. It's been a great combo for me and what I do. I have been toying with a 4" lift and 33's, but not ready to pull the trigger on that with all the work that comes with (SYE & driveline).

Never seen a stock YJ running 31's that didn'rt have at least fender flare rubbing. Even a driveway can send a 31 up into the rubber.

Well maybe it has some sort of lift that I am unaware of. I havent been home in 3 weeks but I will look into when I get home in a few days.

Could be a body lift or shackle extension. Something just enough to get that extra inch for the 31s.
